Family TherapyVirtual Family Therapy in California & Idaho | Strengthen Communication & Navigate Change Together
Healing Happens Together
Families are systems: when one person struggles, everyone feels it. Family therapy brings multiple members into the same virtual room to process a shared challenge, strengthen how you communicate, and reconnect as a unit, with a therapist who can see the full picture.
Four Reasons to Start Family Therapy
Process a Shared Challenge Together
Whether it's a recent loss, a diagnosis, a divorce, or an ongoing conflict, family therapy gives everyone affected a shared space to work through it, together, not separately.
Strengthen Communication Across the System
Family sessions help surface communication patterns that are easy to miss from inside them, and build healthier ways for everyone to be heard.
Support Through Major Transitions
Divorce, blended families, relocation, illness, or a change in family structure all affect the whole system; family therapy helps everyone navigate the shift together.
Understand Each Person's Role in the Pattern
Family therapy looks at the system as a whole, helping each member understand how their own patterns interact with everyone else's, without placing blame on any one person.
Reconnect with your family through life’s challenges and changes.
What to Expect
Family therapy consists of 45-minute weekly sessions with your family system and your therapist. It's recommended for families processing a collective challenge or trauma that has impacted everyone in the household, not just one individual member. All family members over the age of 13 must consent to treatment, and confidentiality belongs to the group as a whole rather than to any one person.
In sessions, your therapist works to understand the family as a system: how each member's experience, role, and communication style interacts with everyone else's, rather than focusing on any single person as "the problem." If appropriate, your therapist may recommend more individualized treatment for specific family members, or couples sessions for the adults in the family system, alongside or instead of full family sessions.
The goal of family therapy isn't to return to how things were before. It's to help your family build healthier patterns of communication and understanding going forward, so each member has room to be fully themselves within the family, and the family as a whole feels more connected and steady.
